What are variable information tags?

In variable information printing, or VIP, each individual nameplate or decal has variable content, such as simple consecutive serial numbers and barcodes to complex variable graphic images.  Examples include:

• Serial number nameplates
• Barcode tags

What method do you recommend we use for marking our variable information tags?

This greatly depends on your particular application, however MPC recommends several different options based on your needs:

• Metalphoto Imaging: Metalphoto Aluminum graphics are produced photographically, allowing the addition of variable information during the manufacturing process rather than after. This method maintains the integrity of the anodic layer on the aluminum.
• Mechanical Marking: Methods include stamping, typing, scribing, engraving. Available for stainless steel, aluminum and brass. Ideal if you want a texture to your marking
• Digital Printing: Optimal solution if you are looking for variable information on polyester, vinyl or polycarbonate
